About the Author
Mira Mehta has studied yoga since childhood with B. K. S. Iyengar. She has
attended classes annually at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, in
Pune, India. Working closely with her late mother, Silva, and her brother,
Shyam, she has won international acclaim in yoga. In 1991, Mira, Silva, and
Shyam were pictured in yoga poses on stamps that were issued by the Indian
government. Mira has been recognized by the Best of British Women Yearbook
for her work in alternative health.
Mira graduated in anthropology and linguistics from London University, and has a master's degree in Sanskrit and Indian Religion from Oxford. Currently, she is pursuing further studies in yoga philosophy, ayurveda, and Sanskrit. In addition to her yoga and ayurveda classes at The Yoga Path, in London, she teaches throughout the world. Her long involvement with yoga gives her a deep understanding, which is transmitted in her teaching.
In addition to How to Use Yoga, Mira is the coauthor (with Silva Mehta and Shyam Mehta) of Yoga: The Iyengar Way and Yoga Explained (with Krishna S. Arjunwadkar), and the author of Health Through Yoga and Cascade of Stars.
