About the Author
 
Jean Couch is the author of The Runner's Yoga Book, which has sold over 150,000 copies. She cohosted "Yoga for Today," which aired on San Francisco's KQED-TV. Jean has presented workshops in and given lectures about yoga, movement, stretching for runners, and Balance throughout the United States and Canada. Since 1988, she has been involved in empirical research, studying populations of people who have no back or joint pain.
 
Jean is the founder and director of the Balance Center, located in Palo Alto, California, where she has developed methods for teaching pain-free posture. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa, as well as a master's degree in education from Stanford University. Jean is an inspirational speaker, and has dedicated her life to helping people conquer their pain.
 
In addition to The Runner's Yoga Book, her writings have been published in Yoga International, Yoga Journal, and Runner's World. Her most recent work is a video entitled Balance: Guidelines, Anatomy, and Images.
